It was an ensemble of the friends, fans, well-wishers of BS Venkatalakshmi. There were people from all walks of life including writers, readers, painters, government servants, sculptors, singers, drama/cinema artists, journalists, IT professionals. It was an apt way of remembering an author on her death anniversary by launching her books.
There were reverberations of the waves of dialogues BSV was doing through different platforms (her 'charchegondu Chaavadi' magazine & other print media)
Some of the people who were her colleagues in Karnataka government service had plenty to talk about the author, as a thorough professional, including her seriousness in work, her discipline, her talent, the respect she use to get. It was Srinivas G. Kappanna (a core theatre person, who was also a colleague of BSV) who orchestrated the symphony of BSVs memories in the Shaswathi Auditorium of NMKRV College on 27, Jun 2010. He called Mrs Srimathi Jayaram to sing the preamble with beautiful lyrics of Basavanna, DVG & GS Shivarudrappa to set the mood of the surroundings. Mrs Srimathi (who was BSVs long time friend since childhood & was also her colleague) took the audience to another world with her melodious voice.Minister Ramachandre Gouda light a lamp on BSV's portrait. CR Simha, the renowned film personality, who was also BSVs colleague, talked about his memories of BSV & also of his association with BSVs husband HN Shama Rao (who was a state representing sports-person.) Renowned writer Sheshanarayana launched BSVs two books ('Charchegondu Chaavadi' & 'Baduku bavane bharavase') and remembered his interactions with BSV.
Poornima talked about the inspirations female writers got from BSVs writing & boldness. Shoodra Srinivas recalled BSVs passion for books & remembered an occasion when BSV was upset due to the fact that the library in her department was spoiled by irresponsible officers who used to borough & loose the books! Prof. HS Raghavendra Rao talked about BSVs writings, the insights & viewpoints she used to express about unknown & forgotten personalities and also read out an article from her book about an young rude boy whose job is destroying the old buildings, ending with her insight - destruction of old is to make space for new ones, a constructive work!
There is an interesting article in Kannada written by BS Venkatalakshmi's husband HN Shama Rao about her (published in Prajavani) titled 'Ditta Dheemanta Lekhaki'
